The Istanbul Chamber of Industry announced that Turkish oil refiner Tupraş, the majority stake in which is owned by Turkish conglomerate Koç Holding has again topped the list of the Top 500 Turkish companies for 2012.

Tupraş, which posted over TRL 40 billion in sales was followed by Ford Otomotiv, a JVe of Turkish Koç and Ford with more than TRL 8 billion of sales and Oyak Renault, a JV of Turkey’s Oyak and carmaker Renault with around TRL 7.5 billion in sales.

The biggest three companies were followed by Arçelik, another Koç Group company which produces appliances, Turkish state power company EUAS, Tofas which is jointly owned by Turkish Koç Holding and Fiat, Iskenderun Iron and Steel Company, Eregli Iron and Steel Company steel producer IÇDAS and Aygaz, a Koç Holding company.

The sales from production of the companies in the Top 500 list reached TRL 353.6 billion in 2012, a 9.2% increase in comparison to the same figure in 2011. The total profits of the top 500 companies reached TRL 24.1 billion in 2012, good for a 6.3% increase.

The Turkish Petroleum Corporation was the country’s most profitable company in 2012 with around TRL 1.5 billion in profit but the company failed to break into the top 10 list.

3. Oyak Renault (TRL 7.5 billion)
4. Arçelik (TRL 7.2 billion)
5. Turkish state power company EUAS (TRL 6.9 billion)
6. Tofaş (TRL 5.6 billion)
7. İskenderun Iron and Steel Company (TRL 5.4 billion)
8. Eregli Iron and Steel Company (TRL 5.1 billion)
9. ICDAS (TRL 4.9 billion)
10. Aygaz (TRL 4.7 billion).
