7 projects for 7-hill Istanbul

Turkish Minister of Transportation, Maritime Affairs & Communications Binali Yildirim said on Wednesday that the 3rd bridge would noticeably relieve the traffic of Istanbul.

Attending the groundbreaking ceremony of the 3rd bridge in Istanbul, Minister Yildirim stated that they provided Istanbul with 7 projects as the 3rd airport, Marmaray, Eurasia, Istanbul-Ankara High Speed Train Project, the 3rd bridge, Channel Istanbul, Izmit Bridge and the Istanbul-Izmir highway.

Yildirim laid the foundation of the third bridge and the North Marmara Highway in Garipce, a district in Istanbul, expressing that “It is a great day for Istanbul on the 560th anniversary of the conquest of Istanbul.”

Noting that the bridge, to be the widest in the world, would not only connect the two continents (Asia and Europe), Yildirim said that it would also turn the daily travel of the 14 million people of Istanbul into a pleasure as a necklace between the two shores of the BosphorusStrait.

“The new bridge will serve with a capacity of two and a half times more than those of the existing two bridges of 250,000 vehicles in total. It will also end the kilometers-long traffic of tankers and trucks both at the Asian and the European sides of the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge,” told Yildirim.

Yildirim said they provided “7 projects for 7-hill Istanbul with the 3rd airport, Marmaray, Eurasia, Istanbul-Ankara High Speed Train Project, the 3rd bridge, Channel Istanbul, Izmit Bridge and the Istanbul-Izmir Highway.”

Yildirim also noted that most of these projects, with a total amount of 150 billion TL, were fulfilled by the partnership of the public and private sector without placing a burden on the state budget.
