New EBRD strategy for Belarus discussed in Istanbul

The new strategy of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for Belarus for the next three years was discussed in Istanbul between Belarus’ Economy Minister Nikolai Snopkov and EBRD President Suma Chakrabarti, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Embassy in the United Kingdom (EBRD is headquartered in London).

The meeting focused on current issues of cooperation, and the priorities for future cooperation in various sectors of the economy.

The meeting was held within the framework of the visit of the Belarusian delegation to Istanbul to attend the annual meeting of the EBRD Board of Governors. The Belarusian delegation was headed by Economy Minister Nikolai Snopkov. The delegation included Ambassador of Belarus to the United Kingdom Sergei Aleinik, the head of the Belarusian diplomatic mission in Turkey Valery Kolesnik, representatives of the National Bank, Economy Ministry and a number of banks of the country.

The Belarusian delegation participated in all official events, and also held bilateral meetings with representatives of the World Bank, the EBRD, the Nordic Investment Bank and other international financial institutions.

A presentation of Belarus’ economic and investment opportunities was held during the annual Board of Governors meeting.
